On Saturday 12 September 2026, the Wits Centre for Journalism will host a workshop examining digital and computational tools for researching the media. The workshop, a post-SACOMM conference event, is limited to 20 participants. No prior skills are needed. The workshop will be facilitated by Dr Alette Schoon of Rhodes University, who will run through a series of hands-on demonstrations in which participants can try out the following tools: Visualising data Scraping data Vibe coding Civic Signal
